Which surfaces are suitable?
ABS/PC, paintable plastics (PP with adhesion promoter), metals, glass and prepared paint surfaces. Always perform an adhesion/compatibility test on a sample part.
How do I prepare the surface?
Degrease → fine sanding (P800–P1000) → clean dust-free → apply suitable primer/basecoat and allow to cure completely. Observe antistatic precautions and wear gloves.
What nozzle/pressure settings are ideal?
Chrome design paint: 1.0–1.2 mm nozzle, 1.8–4.0 bar; colored glazes: 1.0–1.2 mm, 1.6–2.0 bar. Fine-tune values on a sample piece.
Recommended layering for the desired effect?
Apply several very thin, even coats with 60–70% overlap. Allow to dry briefly between coats until the surface is touch-dry.
What are the optimal climatic conditions?
18–25 °C, < 65 % RH. Temperatures that are too low slow down the process, while humidity that is too high promotes milk haze and loss of shine.
How do I adjust the color depth/chrome effect?
Regarding the number of thin coats and consistent overlap: Always apply colored glazes with the same nozzle/pressure; carry a reference sample.
Which clear coat is recommended?
Use approved WT-DIRECT clear coat according to the data sheet. Apply thinly, with minimal dust, and evenly; avoid whitening due to climate/layer thickness.
Ventilation and drying times?
Intermediate coat times approx. 10–15 min at 20 °C; final curing after 1 h. Optionally accelerate curing: 30 °C / 30 min (if approved).
What to do about milky haze/whitening.
Reduce humidity, allow for longer drying time, use thinner aisles, and if necessary, use warm air/temperature control. Ensure proper dilution.
How do I avoid orange peel or clouding?
Adjust nozzle/pressure, check material viscosity, apply thin passes, and maintain a constant spray distance. The base should be smooth and fully cured.
Is spot repair possible?
Limited: Finely sand transitions, locally reproduce layer structure (chrome design lacquer → glaze → clear lacquer) and polish transitions.
Compatibility with third-party systems?
Only after preliminary testing. System-compatible WT-DIRECT products (base coat, chrome design paint, color glaze, clear coat) are recommended.
Storage & Shelf Life?
Store in a cool (10–25 °C), dry place, protected from UV radiation. Close container tightly; check expiry date and revision status in the data sheet.
Cleaning of tools/equipment?
Use suitable cleaners/thinners according to SDS/TM. No residue in the paint booth; clean filters and cups regularly.
What PPE is required?
Minimum requirements: protective gloves, safety glasses/visor, depending on the product respiratory protection (A2/P3) & extraction system. Observe CLP symbols & SDS.
